As a biological concept, an animal, or human is a person who has developed. The term "adult" is often employed in relation to human beings to refer to social and legal concepts. In contrast to a non-adult or "minor" an legal adult is a person who has reached the age of majority. They are considered to be autonomous, self-sufficient and responsible. A legal adult can be referred to as a major. The age at which a child turns an adult legally is 18; however, the definition of maturity can be different depending on the legal or country system as well as the state of their mental health.

The period of human development that is when physical and mental maturity has been reached. Adulthood is commonly believed to start around age 20 or 21. It is around 60 years after middle age. The adulthood process is split into three phases: the early years of adulthood (18-mid-30s), mid-30s-mid-60s, and the final stage of adulthood, mid-60s to death. It is the time of physical maturity is at the time we attain the age of 20 to 40 years older. We are a little taller and heavier are likely to grow. In the early years of our lives, we're physically peaking. The strength of our muscles, the response time, sensoriac ability and cardiac function are all at their highest levels.
